Regulations of the Institute of Mathematics of the University of Wrocław

  1. The Institute of Mathematics, hereinafter referred to as the Institute, is an organizational unit of the University of Wrocław, hereinafter referred to as the University, operating within the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science.
  2. The Institute of Mathematics operates on the basis of the Law on Higher Education and Science, the Statute of the University of Wrocław (hereinafter referred to as the Statute), other internal regulations and these Regulations.
  3. The Institute carries out tasks within the scope determined by the Rector.

The tasks of the Institute include, m.in:

  1. conducting research and didactic activities at the Institute and coordinating these activities within the scope defined by the Council of the Scientific Discipline of Mathematics and the Council of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science;
  2. conducting classes in mathematical sciences on orders from other faculties of the University;
  3. carrying out activities related to the popularization of mathematics and the promotion of mathematical culture.
  • The Institute is headed by a director appointed by the Rector for the duration of the Rector's term of office.
  • The tasks of the Director are set out in § 127 of the Articles of Association.

  • Every academic teacher employed at the Institute works in one of the departments or in one of the laboratories of the Institute.
  • The head of the department may be an employee employed at the Institute on a full-time basis holding the title of professor, the degree of habilitated doctor or employed as a professor at the University.
  • The Institute has a Council of the Institute, hereinafter referred to as the Council.
  • The powers of the Institute Council are described in §130 of the Statute.

  • The Council shall be composed of:
    1. Director of the Institute – as Chairman;
    2. Deputy Director;
    3. professors, professors of the University and habilitated doctors employed at the Institute;
    4. four representatives of the other groups of academic teachers employed at the Institute;
    5. one representative of staff employed at the Institute who are not academic teachers.
  • The following may attend the meetings of the Council in an advisory capacity:
    1. visiting professors;
    2. retired staff employed at the Institute before retirement as professors;
    3. representatives of trade unions, one from each union operating in the Institute;
    4. other persons invited by the Director of the Institute.
  • The members of the Council referred to in point 8(d) and (e) shall be elected for the duration of the Rector's term of office.
  • All employees of the relevant groups employed at the Institute shall have the right to vote and to stand as a member.

  • Election of members of the Council referred to in point
  • Article 8(d) and (e) shall be held at election meetings or by ballot box system. Elections shall be conducted by an electoral commission appointed by the Council. The ballot papers together with the protocol of the electoral commission are stored in the dean's office of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science until the next election.

  • Loss of active membership in the Council, members referred to in point.
  • Article 8(d) and (e) shall result in the unexcused absence from 3 Council meetings. Loss of active membership in the Council, members referred to in point. Article 8(d) shall be the result of a disciplinary penalty.

  • In accordance with §49 of the Statute, the Council of the Institute acts in accordance with the principles set out in §39-§44 of the Statute, applicable accordingly.
  • The Director shall convene meetings of the Board as necessary or at the request of three members of the Board.
  • The Director may delegate the conduct of a meeting of the Board to one of the members of the Board. Meetings of the Council may be held by electronic means of communication, including means ensuring in particular:
     a. real-time transmission of the meeting between its participants;
    b. real-time multilateral communication in which participants in the meeting can speak during the meeting

    with the necessary rules of security and secrecy of voting. The Chairman shall notify the members of the Council of the date and place of the Meeting by e-mail no later than 7 days before the date of the meeting. The notification shall be accompanied by an agenda and information on where other documents are available.
